Fun Show |
Despite an early start for New Years Eve revellers and freezing temperatures we had very good entries at our annual Christmas Fun Show held at Ford Farm by kind permission of James Young and Trudi Nineham. The Fancy Dress classes were particularly popular and lots of effort and time had gone into the various costumes. Judge Barry Allan certainly had a difficult choice in picking out his winners and none of us would have swapped places with him!!!. Buzz Terry kindly judged both the handsome gelding and prettiest mare, interestingly the gelding class is always the more popular of the two, before setting an interesting course for the long reining class to tackle. Its always good to see ponies being long reined- such an important part of their education and all the entrants coped well with the tasks set them. Over the lunchtime break Patrick Kempe kept everybody busy and warm with all manner of races without the ponies and it was surprising that everybody still had plenty of energy for the gymkhana games that followed. It was lovely to see a whole new generation of children in the youngest age groups- their ever competitive parents being kept firmly under control by chief gymkhana steward Simon Young!!! At the other end of the scale the over 15s had some very competitive races with the eventual champion points winner being James Young.
